Vic, a special market in Catalonia

plaza mayorAn optimum way to discover a country and its tradition is certainly to spend some time in a local market.
And I would like to indicate a particular market which takes place in Vic, in Catalonia.
According to tradition the market has been existing since year 875 and takes place twice a week, on Tuesdays and on Saturdays, on Vic Plaza Mayor.
But the most particular market in Vic takes place on the Saturday before Palm Sunday, one week before Easter. On that day the Plaza Mayor and the Carrer Verdaguer are full of stalls sending palms and laurels decorated and made up in many different ways.
Vic is only a short way from Barcelona and it’s surely worth a visit.
